Breaks down fast. Lousy warrantyOct 30, 2007

"Thaleia"
I bought a TDP CQ27 far infared mineral lamp in Feb. 2007. After only about 7 1/2 months of light use it went completely dead. The manufacturer's warranty is very skimpy (3 months parts and labor. And 1 year parts only. Customer pays shipping, which is $30 each way). So the cost of shipping ($60) and repair (who knows?) is more than is worth spending on an unreliable product that could quit working again at any time.
I purchased the unit from a vendor in Carlsbad, CA, whose web site advertised a "Four year manufacturing warrantee (sic)." This assurance proved of little use because of the above mentioned shipping and labor costs. My husband is an electronics technician and was able to identify the defective part (a faulty circuit board.) I sent a photo showing the melted area on the board and asked the vendor to send a relplacement part that my husband could install. I thought this might be a way of getting the problem resolved with minimal effort and expense for both parties. Unfortunately the vendor responded by saying our actions voided the warranty and we would have to pay $64 for the part and $7 for the shipping. Clearly, the vendor knows the product is unreliable and structures its terms so that the customer absorbs the cost.
For what its worth, while the unit was working, it was effective in reducing back pain from muscle tension. But, unless you have too much time and money and are eager to dispose of it, I wouldn't buy this piece of cheap, Chinese junk.
